The Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and Families (DCVAW) held a meeting with the civil society organizations in Erbil

On 5/4/2023, The Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and Family DCVAW in coordination with the Public Aid Organization PAO held a meeting with a number of civil society organizations that work on women and humanitarian issues in Erbil. The meeting aimed to increase the coordination between the DCVAW and the NGOs.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Safin Tahir Mohammed Amin the Director of the DCVAW highlighted the role of the Directorate in reducing violence and the mechanism of cooperation and coordination with the NGOs.

Mr. Hoger Chato, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of PAO emphasized the importance of increasing the cooperation between the organizations and the DCVAW.

The Head of Awareness, Studies and Research Department of the Family Counseling Center (Pairaw Anwar), shed light on the duties, activities, policies, strategies and the most important departments of DCVAW such as the Hotline No. 119 department, the Voice of Equality Radio, the Reconciliation Committee Department, and the Mobile camps team).

The representative of Emma organization expressed some comments and suggestions for strengthening the cooperation between the Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and Family and women’s organizations.

Finally, a number of questions and comments were raised by the participants and ideas and action plans for next steps were identified in order to fill in the gaps and to enhance the coordination between the DCVAW and the NGOs. The participants also visited the hotline department and the Voice of Equality Radio.
