Emma Organization in partnership with Postcards For Peace, which is a UK registered charity, celebrated Peace day on Friday, September 21, 2018.

Emma staff in Duhok celebrated Peace Day in the Sharya camp with Yezidi women survivors and host community. The women who involved in the celebration were captured by ISIS fighters who had control of their areas. Fortunately, some of captured were able to flee. Now, they live with their families in a safer place. Emma staff handed over postcards, with peaceful messages  written on them. They hoped they could return to their homes, and live peacefully once again. It has been more than four years living in war. Some families were separated, women raped and men were killed. They hope that the international community will one day hear their voices and help bring back peace to their regions and lives.

The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21st of September. Established in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
