Concluding the course of hand-crafting in Bahrka IDPs Camp

Within the project ”Enhanced individual and structural agency to overcome (s)GBV in IDP camps and host communities in Kurdistan region of Iraq ” and by the support of #medicamondiale, the Hawkary Community Center team concluded the hand craft training course for 9 girls who are living in Bahrka camp that lasted for one-month-and-a-half. Each week there were two sessions. The participants learnt new skills in hand craft, specially knitting as it has many benefits, which can contribute to wellbeing and quality of life. As a skilled and creative occupation, it has therapeutic potential. At the end of the course, the participants granted with participation certificates and thanked the Emma Organization for giving them this chance and hoped that the Organization will continue giving such services to them.

“An old woman can’t go outside her house free in this society, they look down at her, this is the first time I got such an opportunity to bring out my skills and at the same time to get some money of it to depend on myself…l thank Emma Organization for opening such a course” the trainer said during the ceremony of distributing participation certificates.
