The topic of the Fourth Lalish Conference for Peace and Coexistence was about rebuilding communities beyond ISIS. The conference was held on April 24-25, 2019 in Erbil at the Saad Abdulla Conference Center. As violence and radicalization have increased in recent years, the need for tolerance and coexistence among communities, especially religious and ethnic groups, continues to be a pressing issue in the region.
That is why the Fourth Conference theme was ‘Rebuilding Peaceful Co-existence between Religious and Ethnic Groups in the Post-Conflicts areas in the Region’. The conference was organized by Emma Organization for Human Development and the Women Peace Group (WPG), in partnership with Medica Mondiale and the Women Empowerment Organization (WEO). The conference brought together a diverse network of experts, decision-makers, academics, researchers, social workers, policymakers, international organizations, United Nations agencies and other stakeholders. Participants shared and debated on peace-building in multi-ethnic and multi-religious.
