Emma Organization for Human Development in cooperation with the Lebanese - French University (LFU) participated in the Spring Festival hosted by the University on the 12th April, 2018.
Emma Organisation showcased Hawkari Center’s products, which were handcrafted by women, mainly IDPs and refugees, and were sold to the public. Women at the center are encouraged to develop their products to become a source of income and financial support for their families.
The exhibition received positive feedback from the public, who expressed happiness when buying the beautiful handcrafts.
Hawkari Center is run by Emma Organization for Human Development. The center was handed over by the Ministry of Education in 2015 to Emma Organization as it was suffering from a lack of educational and cultural services among women and young girls in the area. However, Emma Organization has now transformed the center into a safe place and a place where women learn new skills and further their skills into a source of income.
The center also delivers free courses in literacy, sewing, social activities and awareness sessions on different subjects. The beneficiaries are all women of the surrounding areas and displaced and refugee women who are currently residing there.
