Knitting course finishes in Emma community center

A knitting course that lasted for ten day has finished today on the 2nd of September 2018 for a number of displaced women in Emma community center in Duhok.

The course has been renewed for women due to their demand and will continue in the future because they want to learn a profession that can help them financially.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to learn knitting as it will help me make money for my family in the future and make some things for my kids also," one of the participants said.

What we know is that manual work relaxes our minds by keeping them active without reaching the level of mental stress.

Recent research in neuroscience has shown that knitting and other arts such as crochet and knitting require full focus and reflection, which positively affects mental health.
