On 25th of November 2020 in the first day of the international campaign (16 Days of Activism) Emma Organization for Human Development with its partner center conducted variety of activities in both Erbil, and Dohuk governor to commemorate this day and to send massage to the world to end violence against women.
The head office and Hawkari community center staff alone with a group of activists, in accordance with all sound health measures hold a march to the Erbil Citadel to lit candles for the spirit of the victims of violence. Moreover, the Emma Organization for Human Development’s speech on 16 days of activism being delivered by Bahar Ali the director of the Organization.
On one hand at Duhok Governor, the staff of Emma at both Dohuk and Sharya community center hold a campaign of distributing nearly 100 packages that consist of flower, brochure on how to respond GBV while facing it, and brochure on COVID19 on the IDPs who are living in sharya and its outskirt. However, they gathered together a number of women and girls to fly a bunch of colorful balloons in the air in hope to have a society free from violence.
On the other hand, the staff of Emma at Sheikhan community center, organized a seminar for a number of GBV survivors at one of shelters in Duhok, during the seminar the staff provided them with good information about the campaign of 16 days of activism as well as some awareness on violence in general.
To sum up, each year Emma Organization for human development as an Organization working in women right field celebrates this campaign by conducting various of activities in order to spread awareness among the community and show its solidarity with the victims of GBV.
